House concerts

I am anxiously awaiting the arrival of your house concert board. I am a Bonzai-newbie, but a long time addicted music junkie.

My husband and I began hosting house concerts in October of 199 and it has been a wonderful experience. We have had three shows so far and sold out all three with 30+ in attendance. (Justin Roth, Tom Kimmel and just two weeks ago, Tom Prasada Rao) David Roth will be here the end of July, so we are on a roll!!!

I had read a lot about the house concert experience before I jumped into the stream and I gotta tell you all, find one. Check your neighborhoods, check the web, or better yet, start one yourself if none is available.

There is a great article in this month's (July)Performing Songwriter Magazine about house concerts. The article, by Alan Rowoth, is based more on the performer's perspective and what they should be aware of in terms of booking a house gig.

There are great resources on the web for those, like myself, who wanted to find a way to bring good acoustic music to my community on a shoe string budget. If you are interested, email me and I will pass the links I know of on to you.

My husband and I have met some incredible people and heard even amazing music, all from the comfort of our own home. The intimacy allows for some pretty cool interections...especially in those wee hours of the morning.
