: But I really think Uncle Bonsai especially should be cut a great deal of slack when it comes to the Spontaneous Audience Request. The sheer lyrical abundance of their body of work is staggering.
Rumour has it that the number exceeds 280 pieces, not including recent additions. I'm sure it'll be 300+ in the near future, probably by the next concert. (Nudge, nudge, wink, wink.)
: I was listening to 'Another Fat Song' last night and I could hardly get my tiny little brain around the fact that anybody could spit all those words out that fast, much less THREE people, much less memorize the words.
It's not just audience members. I remember one of the female members of Mel Cooleys standing in for Ashley in the "Uncle Bonsai '95" concert at the museum up in Mountlake (in Seattle) stating that after performing a night of UB songs (particularly "Another Fat Song"), she would never, ever again complain about the number of words in Mel Cooley's songs.
It would be interesting to see a compendium of all of the lyrics to all of the UB songs ever written (or performed, given that you have to wonder is some of them were actually ever "written" -- though I kinda liked the skiing/fate song idea, "if you had lost your skis...") Arni's suggestion would be perfect.
And just think, it would be something else you could sell. Not only that, there could be different editions, for different groups. Just think how smart your audience would look with the giant full colour hard copy coffee-table edition of "The Complete Works of Dougstoevsky" lying about their homes.
