Actually, the songs on The "Inessential Uncle Bonsai" are the alternate takes. "Boys Want Sex in the Morning" was the second Uncle Bonsai album, recorded live in Seattle in 1986. We didn't own the rights to this recording so, it was thought, we'd never be able to release it on CD. Therefore, years ago, we put together "The Inessential..." so that we could offer these songs. An argument can be made that this one is a better recording, primarily because the sound is consistent from song to song. (On "Inessential" we had to track down alternate versions...some of which were not of the highest audio quality.) This CD is the original album, plus a couple of bonus tracks.
"The Inessential Uncle Bonsai" still has lots more songs because it includes live versions of most of the songs from the first Uncle Bonsai album...another one we never though we'd be able to release.
We've casually spoken about recording another new CD; I think we still need a couple more songs to make it work. We have at least a couple of shows coming up, in November and next April, so we might be able to record those shows and see what we get.

: A question: most of these songs (wonderful as they are) are already on some of the other UB CDs. Are the songs on the new CD just re-releases of the same tracks, or are they alternate takes, or a mix of the two? I am going to buy it anyway; just want to know how much to anticipate...
: Subsidiary question: any prospect of a new CD with the songs you've written and played at concerts post-Apology?
