Two responses:

Response #1 - The group would have to get together and actually perform all the unreleased songs so that we could record them and release them. There aren't very many recordings of Mel Cooleys around that could be put on CD.

Taking a mix of Uncle Bonsai off of the mixing board is a pretty straightforward thing...three voices and an acoustic guitar. (And, if you listen to Plain Brown Wrapper, you see how much variation there is in the recording quality with even that simple a set up.) Mel Cooleys, however, has 6 voices, guitar, bass, and wind instrument(s); the board mix is for the room, not a recording. (For example, there might be very little sax in one song but lots of flute in another; the sound is mixed for the audience.)

The point is, and there is a point here somewhere, if we wanted "recording quality" Mel Cooleys stuff, we'd need to set up recording mics in addition to the room mics then, as we did with the first album, mix it for release.

Response #2: The group would have to get together again....well, that's really all there is to say, isn't it.

It's too bad..."Another Pretty Girl With A Guitar" is a pretty funny song.

: Hey Andrew,

: Was listening to "Plain Brown Wrapper" today, and thought, "I wonder if Andrew would consider releasing a similar CD of Mel Cooleys material, in the same spirit as PBW? I should ask him."

: So, Andrew, would you consider releasing a similar CD of Mel Cooleys material, in the same spirit as PBW? :-)

: K.
